Hi I’m Alice. I am a fully qualified Psychodynamic Therapist based in East London. I have worked with a wide range of clients, both short term and long term in private, NHS, and voluntary settings.
I work with:
- Anxiety
- Stress
- OCD
- Relationship issues
- Gender/Sexuality
- Drugs and Alcohol
- Addiction
- Anger issues
- Existential anxiety
- Bereavement
Often it is hard to identify one specific issue that is making life feel hard – perhaps anxiety is contributing to sleepless nights which in turn is making you more anxious. Or a low mood is impacting your self-esteem and making your relationships feel less fulfilling. Perhaps you find yourself engaging in behaviours that aren’t working for you but they also feel that they are the only way to cope.
I recognise that life is complicated, which is why I approach every client with an open mind and the flexibility to work in whichever way feels comfortable. We can work through conflicts and complex issues which be hard to separate and no topic is off limits.
While allowing you to use the sessions to talk about whatever feels the most important to you, I will use my experience to offer insights or new perspectives as well as encouraging you to reflect on and challenge yourself in areas that you may feel stuck on.
I have a Masters Degree in Psychotherapy and trained from a primarily Psychodynamic perspective. The fundamental premise of Psychodynamic therapy is the belief that early experiences shape who we are as adults. By working through some of these early experiences, we can get to the root of who we are and why we do the things we do. With this insight in hand, we can start to free ourselves from behaviours that are no longer working for us, and take control of who we are.
Although Psychodynamic theory underpins the way I work, I also strongly believe that different approaches can work for people at different times. If you feel that a more practical approach might be necessary for a particular area of concern, I will always endeavour to incorporate strands from other schools of thought, including CBT, Gestalt and person-centred work.
